I chose to honor my son, Karl W. Ballard for many reasons. He loves his country, he cares, his
heart his huge. He wanted to join and support the Operation Iraqi Freedom in response to the
World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks. At the age of 19 he entered Boot Camp and shortly
after completion he was called up for active duty in 2003. In 2009 he served his second tour of
duty. At that time, he had a niece and nephew and he wanted to do his part in protecting them.
His accomplishments were many, his pride unending and his experience will never leave him.
We are proud of him, we love him and we thank him for doing his part in serving his country.
Wado, my son.
