Wayne Briggs

United States Army
Picture
Wayne Briggs was the oldest child born to Clyde and Nellie Briggs.  Born at home and the oldest of six children, he was strong from the beginning.  He grew up in the Eldon community and helped work on the family farm. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed riding horses.  At the age of fourteen, his mother passed away.  He and his older sisters helped raise their younger siblings.  He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, people listened.  He joined the army and made a career of it. After retiring from the army, he began his career in law enforcement.  He worked for several different agencies, and finished his career with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. He held himself and those around him to a high standard.  He was a no excuses accepted person.  He believed in the value of hard work and integrity above all.

Tahlequah Proudly honors Wayne Briggs who served as an E-6 in the United States Army.
