Tahlequah has so much going on so I am going to try and give you a quick update on Main Street.

DESIGN COMMITTEE: is currently working on two clean up days; one being on March 3rd and the nexst being in April (date to be announced). They are also working on donations for the planters downtown to make everything clean and ready for the Red Fern Festival.

ORGANIZATION COMMITTEE: Is currently working on a Partnership Drive so when you get that letter or phone call please help make Tahlequah a cleaner, safer place.

PROMOTIONS COMMITTEE: Has begun work on the 6th Annual Taste of Tahelquah as well as several others events to take place this summer and fall.

ECONOMIC RESTRUCTURING: Has just completed an inventory and survey of our downtown merchants and properties and this information will be forthcoming. Also they are planning two seminar's; the first dealing with tourism and the second dealing with customer service, so please watch for these and plann to attend.

Tahlequah Main Street will attend the National Main Street Conference in Seattle, Washington beginning March 23rd. I hope to return with great ideas for some new and exciting events for our downtown.

There are only 4 days until the big event. Ticket sales have been brisk these last two weeks. We started with 400 tickets and we are down to 80 tickets left. Don't wait until the last minute to get yours. At this rate there may not be any tickets available at the door.


Remember you can get tickets at the TMS office on Muskogee Ave inside Bank of America, Xtreme Internet, Simply Scrubs and Vidalia's.

The 5th annual "TASTE OF TAHLEQUAH" is just around the corner. It is scheduled for November 4th at the NSU Ball Room starting as 7:00 PM.

This years Theme is "Putting on the Glitz". Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased from TMS board members or by contacting our TMS director Danny Perry at 431-1655. Additionally tickets can be purchased at VIDALIA?S RESTAURANT, SIMPLY SCRUBS AND XTREME INTERNET. Other merchant locations will be available soon.

Community response has been outstanding so far and this year?s event is shaping up to be the best ever!!!

Main Street Merchants. TMSA mailed a news letter on 7/26 to announce the upcoming Economic Development Study that will Kick off in August. The letter identifies the Main Street and NSU project leaders that you can contact at any time if you have questions. I've also opened this topic in our on line open forum with additional explanation of the nature or this project. Please visit the on line forum often. Your comments and Ideas are encouraged and welcomed.

" 5 MILLION DOLLAR COMMUNITY REINVESTMENT "

Recently the Tahlequah Main Street Association (TMSA) received a 5 million dollar reinvestment award from Mayor Purdy during February?s council meeting. This is a significant milestone for TMSA. This award represents countless volunteer hours and strong civic pride. In the end this is really Tahlequah?s award.
